In June of 2007, Professional Music Teacher, Performing and Recording Artist, Christine A. Snipes purchased a Fender StratAcoustic Guitar for Indenju aka Hakeem Ali-Bocas Alexander.
Because he lacked confidence in his ability to play on the acoustic guitar, the instrument sat collecting dust for almost 3 years. But after witnessing Christine performing live Solo Violin and Ensemble shows, Hakeem was inspired to pick up the StratAcoustic and write a few songs.
Specifically, there was a performance in April of 2010, when Christine Snipes performed in a small East L.A. theatre that was the final motivating factor.
Scrambling to compose at least 10 songs for a show, Hakeem achieved his goal, writing some songs 1-week and even 1-day before a packed show at the now extinct venue, The Chocolate Bar, on June 13th 2010 before a crowd of 60 + attendees.
Those in attendance included up and coming Actor, Rene Moran, Writer / Director, John Kline, Christine Snipes, and “Scary” Cary Singman, Gutarist for the Metal band “The Chimpz” who said Hakeem’s performance was “The best acoustic show I have ever seen!”.
Indenju continues to compose and perform original music, utilizing a variety of instruments and genres for the independent label founded by Hakeem Alexander, SIX13 Records.
